John Wesley

John Wesley (1703–1791) was an Anglican cleric and theologian who, along with his brother Charles, helped found the Methodist movement when he began open-air preaching. Under Wesley’s direction, Methodists became leaders in many social issues, including the abolition of slavery. Wesley wrote, edited, or abridged some 400 publications, including A Plain Account of Christian Perfection.
