Joseph: The Godly Perspective of a Mistreated Man examines the brutal circumstances that Joseph encountered while pursuing righteousness, both in his attitude and behavior. Somehow, Joseph found the inner strength to endure each challenge with extraordinary grace. What was his secret, and how did he eventually reach the conclusion that "God meant it for good?
Every individual has to deal with challenges that could shatter confidence and destroy relationships. Learning to deal with those difficult circumstances is essential to our spiritual survival. Joseph's path to success was secured by an accurate view of the battles he faced in relation to his trust in God. What worked for him can work for any individual who is willing to embrace the values that Joseph held dear.
Terry Hyman's book on the life of Joseph paints a vibrant picture of God's master plan at work in a fractured family. Even those who have spent many hours reading, meditating, and teaching from these narrative chapters in Genesis will find Pastor Hyman has an eye for helpful analysis as well as practical application. His work is insightful and thought-provoking. You will find his pastor's heart behind every astute observation and personal challenge he draws out of the text...The book is more than a commentary or character study; it is the unfolding and application of God's Word directly from the pages of Holy Scripture.

We live in a day characterized by individuals, media, and masses demanding 'equity' while disregarding justice and seeking to destroy justice (Rom. 10:3). It is easy and too common in such an environment for many Christians to lose the joy, peace, and power of God by becoming frustrated and bitter. Brother Hyman has soundly and clearly expounded in this book the testimony given to us in God's Word of the life of Joseph with the biblical principles for every believer to be able to grow and serve, regardless of the social and political setting.

The work is not intended to be a detailed commentary; but rather, it is a warm, devotional, careful look at the biblical account of the life of the patriarch Joseph...I appreciated that the author did not hide the human flaws that, on occasion, surface in Joseph's life. While it is clear that Joseph is overwhelmingly a model of godliness, Terry Hyman does not paint Joseph as the "perfect man" with no recorded failures. Even though this work is a rather brief overview, I was struck by the notice given to some often-overlooked details in the biblical story of Joseph. Some of these 'little things' are shown to have importance in understanding the motives and later decisions Joseph or his family members made. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book both for those who know very little about the biblical account of Joseph and those who have known and studied the story many times. There is abundant application to struggles with bitterness and resentment that Joseph helps us understand. Joseph is a striking proof that God enables His children to overcome the vortex of defeat and negativity produced by a self-focused, unforgiving spirit.

Joseph: The Godly Perspective of a Mistreated Man is a classic book that gives a 'play-by-play' account of what happened to a man who was misused, misunderstood, and maliciously accused. Terry Hyman does an incredible job explaining and applying the biblical principles that were evident in Joseph's journey as he navigated some of the toughest circumstances life could offer. This book is a must-read for those who enjoy practical truths that apply to everyday living.
